GISBORNE-East Coast bowlers travelled to Whakatane to play Bay of Plenty this month.
This is an annual event, with senior players contesting the Endeavour Shield, and players with less than eight years of bowls experience playing for the Waioeka Shield.
Bay of Plenty proved too good for their Gisborne-East Coastopponents, winning the senior event 22-14 and the u8yr contest 29-7.
The weather has not been that good early in the season, and many of those chosen had not played, despite there being trials in August to help the players.
The event was played on carpet and this was an excellent surface. The only excuse that Gisborne-East Coast could offer was that it was cold and showery during the day.
