KARTING by Rockin’ Robin

rain before the start of Eastland Kart Club’s meeting on Sunday produced a great race track and some of the best racing this season.

It was the club’s fifth points meeting of the season.

The women’s class was an example of the exciting racing on show. Races featured plenty of passing and three different winners.

Sharyn Rogers, Tessa Irvine and new driver Crystal Callaghan — at her first points meeting — had wins.

Second placings went to Rogers (two) and Callaghan.

In the junior KT class, Luca Vita had two wins and Zavier Iremonger had one.

Koby Gooch, Zavier Iremonger and Daniel Tamanui each had a second placing.

Third placings went to Daniel Tamanui (two) and new driver Hayley Da La Haye in her first points meeting.

In the young guns class, Brodie Gooch had two wins and Ella Nicholson, one. Nicholson drove her best race yet to hold out the hard-charging Gooch.

Ben Adcock had two second placings and Gooch, the other.

Third placings went to Ella Nicholson (two) and Ben Adcock.

In the KT heavies, it was a battle of the brothers-in-law, Buck Rogers getting the better of Wayvern Vause.

Rogers had two wins and a second placing. Vause had a win and a second, and Dion Lund had a second and a third.

In the rookies class, Conrad Gooch picked up two wins and a second, while Nixon Gooch had a win and two seconds.

The Rotax pro class and shifters made up a class. Shanan Gooch showed his class to take all three wins.

Roger Moss had two second placings, and Cole Rosie, one.

Third placings went to Harley Davies (two) and Cole Rosie (one).

Races for the KT lights were all action as they had big fields.

Alex Rosie (two) and Daniel Taylor had wins, while second placings went to Seth Iremonger (two) and Jake Callaghan.

Third placings went to Daniel Taylor, Seth Hall and Conor White.

New driver Robert De La Haye drove well to finish fourth in the last race, as the rain was coming down again.

A feature race was not held because the track got too wet.
