Rain disrupted Eastland Kart Club’s fourth points meeting of the season.

Racing started earlier than usual last Sunday in a bid to beat the rain.

Organisers changed the format, doing away with timed laps to determine groups.

They instead returned to a system in which drivers had front, middle and back starts during the day.

The groups were also mixed up, so all drivers raced each other at some point.

Everyone had three heats to enter, then the rain came down, so no feature races were held.

In the rookies class, Asher Davis won twice and Lennox McIndoe once.

Oscar Bartlett, Davis and McIndoe each had one second placing.

Bartlett had two third placings and Max Archer one.

In the adult class races, Ian McGrory and Shaun Barwick both had two wins, and Roger Moss and Shane Murrell both had one win.

Second placings went to Daniel Taylor (two), Murrell, Jack Jobberns, Dallas Wanoa and Mike Vita.

Third placings went to Taylor, Vita, Liam Nicol, Dion Lund, Wanoa and Jobberns.

Fastest times of the day were recorded by Ian McGrory (22.865 seconds) for the adults and Asher Davis (28.525s) for the rookies.

The next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, with racing to start at 9.30pm. Check the Eastland Kart Club Facebook page for updates.

Entry is free for spectators. Those coming from town should go past the speedway, then turn down Aerodrome Road and go down Te Maanga Road to reach the kart track.
