Sensational racing lit up the Eastland Kart Club's track in Aerodrome Road for the club championships on Sunday.

All drivers had three eight-lap races, and received a start in the front, in the middle and at the back of the grid over the day's racing.

Drivers with the most points won their divisions.

The young guns class really turned it on, the lead changing so many times in one race that all drivers ended up leading at some stage.

Hamish Worsnop was the winner, Brodie Gooch was second and Vinzent MacGregor had a DNF (did not finish) in the end.

In the junior KTs, the Iremonger brothers Seth and Zavier raced really well, as did Toby White.

Seth Iremonger finished first overall, White was second, and Zavier Iremonger won a four-lap run-off against Greison Wells to take third place overall.

A four-lap run-off was also needed in the KT class, this time to separate the top two pointscorers. Warwick “Spring” Thomson beat Nathan Williams in the run-off to take first place overall.

That meant Williams was second and Conor White, third.

Competition was hot in the Rotax class, with the three races being won by three different drivers — Shanan Gooch, Paul Farmer and Roger Moss.

Gooch also had two second placings, which got him first place overall; Farmer also had a second and a third, which meant he was second overall; and Moss's win was enough for third place overall, ahead of Cody Atkins, who had two third placings.

Tara Whiteman had three wins in the women's class, while Jay Prosser had three wins in the rookie class.

Good racing was on show in the proclass 270s. Harley Davies picked up two wins and Cole Rosie, one.

Rosie had two second placings, and the other second-place finish went to Ben Briant, who was also third twice.

Thanks go to Shanan Gooch and his family, who pulled together to help out on the day.

• The next meeting will be held on Sunday.
