DUNCAN Summerfield had one word for his first ride as a pro-division rider at the Grand National Cross-Country Motocross Championship series in Whakatane — “shocking”.
“Halfway into the race I punctured my front tyre and couldn’t finish,” the 17-year-old Campion College student said.
“It was really disappointing. Until then, thebike (a purpose-built KTM 200cc two-stroke) was handling well.
“I tried to keep on racing but it was too dangerous and had to pull out after I crashed. I’m OK and the bike’s OK, but I was really looking forward to having a good first round.
“And everything was good — the track and the weather — everything except the puncture.
