Practice sessions cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic

Gisborne junior cricket practice sessions this week have been cancelled as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Poverty Bay Cricket Association called off all junior cricket practice sessions for the week, citing increasing dangers from the Covid-19 virus.

A Wairoa field day today was cancelled and Sonrise Christian School and Gisborne Intermediate teams were to compete in tournaments next week but they have been called off.

The Junior Colts 30-over final is due to go ahead on Saturday. At this stage, the prize-giving on Sunday will proceed.

PBCA staff members Bruce Kerr, Graham Hudson and Jo van der Veen — all from South Africa — have had to pack up quickly to leave New Zealand. They were on a flight from 8.30am today.
