Poverty Bay took six wickets off a strong Northland in the first round of 50-over games at the Northern Districts senior secondary schoolboys’ tournament here yesterday.
The Graham Hudson-coached Bay made 150 and Northland replied with 152-6 in 28.overs.
For Poverty Bay, Robert Schwass made 38 and captain PaulStewart 28 — the only two Bay batsmen to bat for 30 balls.
Left-arm spinner Kian Bird, opening bowler Nathan Parkes and fellow seamer Cam Gordon were Northland’s chief wicket-takers.
