Huhu went into the match having lost three-out-of-three club championship finals — the endeavour, junior and last year’s senior final.
He put that to bed with an 8 and 7 win, forging a 3-up lead at the 18-hole stage, then winning five of the opening seven holes in the afternoon.
“It really felt good to get my first win,” said the popular Park member.
Peter Koorey and Ray Grace fought out a humdinger junior final — Koorey getting home on the first extra hole.
In what has probably been the best patch of his career, John Charles came from 3-down to beat Barry Cox 2 and 1 in the endeavour final.
Charles, who recently won the division 2 Handicap Cup and shot a stableford-winning 84-21-63, for 45 points on Saturday, found himself three holes light standing on the eighth tee.
He won the next two, then had a run of three wins, chucked a birdie at Cox on the 15th and finished it two holes later.
Cox’s efforts included twos on the seventh and 14th holes.
