Pile-ups, a joker lap and a Seth McKay A-Grade victory treble made for an exciting day of racing in Eastland Kart Club’s second points meeting of the season on Sunday.

Drivers faced warm and windy conditions on a track that was still dusty despite plenty of watering.

The feature race at the end of the meeting saw 14 drivers scrap it out over 12 laps.

Even before the race, as they were going around the track to grid up there was a four-kart pile-up, which put two drivers out.

It was all on from the start and the joker lap made for exciting viewing for the good-sized crowd over the day.

Ethan Bruce ended up winning with Luca Vita second, CJ Ingram third, Shaun Barwick fourth, Ben Adcock fifth and Daniel Taylor sixth.

The kids’ feature race combined the juniors and the rookies and resulted in a crash between Juvae Govander and Kolten Irvine, which ended their hopes. Only two karts actually finished the race -Pyper Irvine winning from Jose Govender.

The only injuries suffered in both feature races were bruised egos.

At the start of the day, drivers do timed laps to see which group they will race in. After that, they can move up or down groups, depending on results.

The fastest lap on the new track was 22.981 seconds by McKay.

Bruce got the fastest time on the old track - 20.592.

B Group wins went to Taylor, Logan Irvine and Ingram. Dion Lund, Luca Vita and Ashley McMillan got seconds, and Roger Moss, Ingram and Taylor had thirds.

Luca Vita, McMillan and Ben Adcock took C Group wins. Seconds went to Ingram, Lyn Lyle and Tessa Irvine. Thirds went to Shane Murrell (2), who also won driver of the day, and Lyle.

The kids’ classes raced together with the rookies starting behind the juniors and racing for separate points.

Wins went to Kolten Irvine, Pyper Irvine and Jose Govender.

Kolten had two seconds, while the other second placing went to Pyper.

Juvae Govender had two thirds and Pyper the other third.
