Parkes among the runs at tournament

Gisborne cricketer Thorn Parkes is having a good tournament at the national men’s under-19 tournament in Lincoln.

Parkes is captaining the Northern Districts side who recorded a tie and a loss in their first two one-day matches.

Parkes was Northern’s top-scorer in both games. Yesterday he scored 41 runs off 61 balls, batting at No.4 against Auckland.

Northern were all out for 113. Auckland had scored 261-6 off 47 overs.

In the tied match against Otago on Thursday, Parkes hit 12 fours in 85 not out off 100 balls.

Northern had dismissed the last Otago batsman in the 50th over, with the score at 242.

In reply, Northern were 242-9 at the end of their 50 overs.
