SUPPORT for the TP Strong 4 Andy fundraising golf tournament continues to pour in.
As of this week the field was full for the July 16 event which is raising money for the whānau of Poverty Bay-East Coast representative golfer and Te Puia Springs son Andrew Higham, who was seriouslyinjured in a car crash at Mahia in May.
Co-organiser and long-time PBEC rep golf team manager Dave Keown said all 160 spots for Sunday had been filled, so they had opened up 40 spots for Saturday, July 15.
Paid entries can be made at the Poverty Bay Golf Club pro shop.
Keown sad the response had been “overwhelming” and he and fellow organisers were extremely grateful to all those who had donated and entered.
There was clearly a lot of love and respect for Higham, who was transferred from Waikato Hospital to an Auckland rehabilitation facility last week.
As well as prizes and lucky draws, an auction is being held which includes some outstanding items such as a spot in the playing four with special guest and All Black great Christian Cullen and a Lydia Ko-signed NZ Women’s Golf Open flag.
Added to this list at the weekend was a Rory McIlroy-signed Nike cap identical to that he wore when he won the 2013 Australian Open.
