A glorious day in the district made for ideal conditions for sporting endeavours . . . and other excursions.

The the Victoria Domain courts, the sole premier-grade netball game of the day was between YMP and Gisborne Girls’ High Senior A — YMP emerging the victors 35-19.

Week 3 of Poverty Bay premier club rugby included defending champions Waikohu hosting OBM at Te Karaka. The home side won a physical confrontation 38-20.

Meanwhile, YMP proved too strong for High School Old Boys in their premier clash at Barry Park. The Magpies won 57-14.

Not all sporting tussles were going on outside. Gisborne Cossie Club hosted a snooker pairs tournament on its nationally-renowned tables.
