Gisborne East Coast centre open triples titles go on the line at Kahutia Bowling Club this weekend.

Six women's teams will play for the Judy Blair Cup while 10 men's teams contest the Terry Gardiner Memorial.

In the women's competition, 2019 winners Carol Hawes and Lesley McIntosh will be joined by Dayvinia Mills in place of Lorna Reeves. They will still be the team to beat.

Poverty Bay's Jan Powell, Erin Sutherland and Kathy Carroll are capable of causing problems against anyone on the day.

Bobbie Beattie, Tanya Harrison and Karen Higgins can front it with the better teams and will be quietly confident.

Glenys Whiteman, Marie Wright and Paige Richter will also want the goods. Whiteman has had a quiet season so far and will want to rectify that.

Juniors Barbara Gibson, Angela Gibson-Sam and Diane Oates will gain experience from entering.

Te Karaka combination Sarah Brown, Del Tamanui and Diane Murray can never be taken lightly.

In the men's competition, Gisborne's Jamey Ferris heads the field in a contest that could only be described as anyone's.

With Ricky Miller and Robin Jefferson off the front, they will be as tough as any team entered.

Bob McIlroy is joined by Charlie Ure and Tim Sherriff, and they meet Ferris in the first round.

Tolaga Bay's Vern Marshall, Mick Maunder and Murray Duncan face clubmates Mark Bain, Ben Elkington and Mark Walker in the first round.

Centre selector Ben Brown, Andy Tamanui and Bruce Elliott take on Te Karaka favourites David File, Steve Goldsbury and Duncan Macpherson.

Kia Toa club in Hastings has an entry.

Not much is known about these boys but rest assured, they will not be coming all this way for a picnic.

They play Gisborne's Arthur Hawes, Mal Trowell and Dave Beattie first-up.

Hawes is coming off winning his club championship last weekend. He also won this tournament last year with Bruce Easton and Trowell.

Poverty Bay's Steve Berezowski, Bruce Ball and Bruce Gledhill are up against Murray Murton, Marty Ryan and Ray Young in their first match.

All the favoured teams will meet each other on the first day at some point so it will give an insight into what could happen with Sunday's placings.

The women will be playing a round-robin format.

The men will be vying for the top eight to be seeded according to how they place tomorrow.
