Eastland Kart Club members will wish Luca Vita all the best as he heads off to university, and a few might relish the prospect of moving up a place in the club’s A Group racing in his absence.

On Sunday, Vita recorded the fastest lap — 19.689 seconds — in the club’s fifth points meeting of the season.

He won all three A Group races on the day and won the 10-lap feature held at the end of each meeting.

However, university studies are likely to curtail his participation for the rest of the season, unless he happens to be home over a weekend on which club members are

racing.

Harley Davis (19.853s) and Shaun Barwick (19.934s) had the next-fastest laps on Sunday.

Davis pushed Vita hard all day in the A Group races, taking two second placings and a third. Mike Vita, Luca’s father, had a second and a third, and Daniel Taylor had a third placing.

In the B Group, Ben Adcock picked up a win and two third placings, Tessa Irvine had a win and a second, and Shaun Barwick had a win.

Second placings also went to Hamish Worsnop and Daniel Taylor.

The other third placing went to Tyler Barwick — Shaun’s son — in his first meeting.

Pyper Irvine won all three races in the juniors class. Indigo McGuinness had a few second placings and Liam Josephs, some thirds.

These drivers have a front, middle and back start over the day.

Other drivers do timed laps, with the fastest making the A Group and the rest the B Group. Drivers can go up or down a group depending on their results.

Luca Vita continued his habit of winning the feature race held at the end of meetings. Harley Davis was second, Mike Vita third, Daniel Taylor fourth and Ben Adcock fifth.

To finish, a shout-out goes to Ashleigh Taylor, who is in charge of the raceday timing system, which records all drivers’ lap times. Without people like this the club would not be able to run.
