Dylan Foster and cousin Kayla Trowell were in control, winning the New Zealand local final of the mixed pairs 10-4 against Dylan’s elder brother Matthew Foster and his mum Karyn Foster.

Seventeen-year-old Dylan and 16-year-old Kayla were by far the youngest team in the tournament. Trowell played top-drawer bowls to set up Dylan time and time again.

After six ends of the nine-end final they were 7-2 ahead and didn’t look back.Dylan notched up his12th centre title; Trowell gained centre title No.6 and a remarkable fourth mixed pairs title, having won her first mixed pairs at just 12 years of age.

Dylan and Kayla will now travel to Whakatane in July to contest the New Zealand zone final against Waikato, Thames Valley, Tauranga and Bay of Plenty .

The Poverty Bay-East Coast selector has named his team to contest the Hone Trophy in Tauranga, then the Bill Moore Trophy in Whakatane on their way back.
