OBR win Doleman Cup

OBR ended Pirates' two-year reign as Doleman Cup champions with a seven wicket-win at Harry Barker Reserve today.

Kevin Hollis Glass Pirates skipper Mitchell Turner won the toss and elected to bat first in the 35-overs final. The decision backfired as Pirates were dismissed for 86 in 28.2 overs.

Timoti Weir and Jimmy Holden did the damage. Weir took four wickets for 23 runs off seven overs. Holden picked up 3-36-7.

Landmark Homes Bain Construction OBR reached their target for the loss of three wickets.

"It was one of those days when everything we hit went to their hands and everything they hit went through the gaps," Turner said.

OBR captain Jonathan Purcell said his bowlers set the platform with support from the fielders.

"We couldn't have asked for a better start, rolling them for 86 but we knew the job was only half done," Purcell said. "We still had to go out and get the runs."

Craig Christophers and Brayden Harwood put on 25 runs when Christophers was out for 16. Ian Loffler followed one run later. Harwood and Carl Carmody righted the ship and advanced the score to 59 when Carmody departed for 22.

Harwood and Nick Greeks then combined in an unbroken 31-run partnership to seal the win.
