The left-arm opening bowler and the burly keeper will once more steer the undefeated 30-over Hope Cup competition leaders, in the absence of regular captain Craig Christophers.

A win today against the Civil Project Solutions Ngatapa Green Caps (15 points) on Harry Barker Reserve No.1 would have Rawhiti Legal Old Boys Rugby end the first half of the 16-round season with a maximum 24 points, while the winners of the clash between Siteworx Horouta (12pts) and Bollywood High School Old Boys Presidents (9pts) on HBR 4 could grow an arm and a leg as a result.

The Gisborne Boys’ High School second 11 have forfeited to Campion College (6pts) because of player availability due to family travel.

Presidents skipper Jeff Chambers is still smarting over his outfit’s two-run loss to OBR last Saturday but is pleased to have a batsman of vast experience in Glen Udall back in the side. Chambers wants no wide balls from his bowlers . . . they bowled 22 in Round 7.

Mel Knight is unavailable for Horouta today, but with the club’s premier crew not in action, the Senior B team will have the services of swashbuckling big-hitter Heyan Ranasinghe as captain.

While Mike Gibson was yet to confirm Ngatapa’s exact line-up against OBR, it is known that a barbecue of significant magnitude will be held afterwards, irrespective of the result.

A win against OBR would be the perfect way to put down bat, ball and ’keeping gloves before picking them up come the resumption in Round 9 on January 23.
