GISBORNE Speedway Club members, officials and fans left Eastland Group Raceway happy campers after an awesome Eastlite Carriers New Zealand saloon car champs and two great nights of support racing.

The speedway drew a good-sized crowd on Friday night for qualifying and Saturday’s turnout of fans was outstanding, with nearly 3000 bums on seats.

How fitting it was for them all to see Gisborne “hometown hero” Daniel Corrin take 1NZ in the saloon champs.

Hats off also to brothers Daniel and Ethan Cook and Dave Moorcroft, who raced so gallantly in a tough finals competition.
