CRICKET

The boys got out of Dodge.

Northern Knights head coach John Bracewell timed the close of play in the Northern Districts three-day trial perfectly.

Although one drop might have fallen before play was called off, the No.2 pitch at Harry Barker Reserve was covered, and all and sundry beat the rain off the park.

Northern A were 196-5 off 51 overs at the end of Day 3. Sandeep Patel was on 23 not out and Sean Davey, 3no.

Northern A trailed the Northern XI by one run when play was abandoned.
