WINTER sport?

You would have thought more like spring as mild weather made for pleasant conditions for players and spectators alike around Gisborne sports venues on Saturday.

Gisborne Herald chief photographer Paul Rickard had the lens cap off at numerous places — Harry Barker Reserve, where Gisborne United took on Napier City Rovers seconds in a Pacific Premiership football game; at the nearby turf for the Poverty Bay men's club hockey match between YMP A and Waituhi; out at Te Karaka as Waikohu hosted Ngatapa in the last round-robin Saturday of Poverty Bay premier club rugby; and at the YMCA for the premier grade netball game involving High School Old Girls and YMP.
