Di Sherratt shone on a dry course and a warm summer’s day as a huge field enjoyed another successful edition of the First Light Frozen/Taste One Xmas Hams Tournament on Sunday.

Sherratt’s 102-35-67, for 43 points, was the top women’s Stableford and her best round at Awapuni Links since she and husband Tim shifted from Tahunga over 10 years ago.

Another Tahunga-linked player, Sarah Eriksen, was a point behind with her best round in three years – 100-32-68.

Ōpōtiki member Kala Reeve had 38, as did home-course player Debbie Kirkpatrick, followed by Mahia’s Maraea Wesche (37) and Poverty Bay’s Lynne Holmberg (37).

Sunday regular Lee Pollitt returned the top men’s Stableford of 41 points, a point clear of Division 1 men’s winner Stefan Andreassen and runner-up Allan White.

Brian Morrissey Christmas-pimped his golf buggy ride and matched it with 39 points to top Division 2 on countback from Paul “The Pro” Rickard.

Electrinet Park member Sefo Fonoti’s 40 points won Division 3 by one point from Pātūtahi’s Dave Dodgshun and Poverty Bay’s Mark Karalus.

Waka Donnelly shot 1-under 71 – nines of 33 and 39 – to win the men’s gross by one shot from William Brown, who is back home from Rotorua where he recently took over as chief superintendent at the Arikikapakapa course, and Robert Maruszewski, back from a lengthy injury break.

Rochelle Taewa shot 85 to win the women’s gross, three ahead of Lynne Holmberg.

Mark Jefferson is the man to beat after two rounds of the Summer Cup men’s net series.

Jefferson is leading on 142, thanks to his Round 2 73-6-67 to go with a Round 1 net 75.

He is two strokes ahead of Colin Simpson (70, 74), with Jarome Finch (79, 73) and Dirk Bullivant (74, 78) third-equal on 152.

Plenty of water is still to flow under the Summer Cup bridge. Players count their best three of five net scores. Round 3 is on December 20.

Neil Mackie capped a historic year by winning the Poverty Bay Golf Club "Thursday School" top player for the second year running. Mackie, who had his career-first hole-in-one in March, had the school's best average Stableford score for 25 rounds or more over 2025. Mackie has been described as "the Bernhard Langer" of Tairāwhiti for his consistency over the decades, although fellow Thursday School member Glenn Morley said: "Mack is more like David Bowie than Bernhard". This pic is from 2009. Mackie has aged little since then. Photo / Paul Rickard

A father-and-daughter combo paid tribute to the memory of a top club man with a top performance on Sunday.

Kim Torrez and her dad Graeme Holland won the Guy Farmer Memorial Trophy South African pairs Stableford.

Torrez was the star of the show. Fresh from picking up a ham at the Ōpōtiki Christmas tournament, she fired a personal-best 91-28-63, which also won her the women’s net.

Selwyn Skudder (82-14-68) won the Division 1 men’s net and Chris Kaa (85-18-67) the Division 2 net.

Tairāwhiti representative Jason Devery birdied 16, 17 and 18 on his way to winning Division 1 of the Friday meat pack Stableford with 33-1-32, for 22 points.
