The Full Send Long Drive and Putting Comp being held at Poverty Bay Golf Club on Friday, January 24, is gaining momentum as more entries come in. The competition is open to anyone.

Poverty Bay

It is nearly 50 and counting for entries so far for the Full Send Long Drive and Putting Comp to be held at Poverty Bay’s Awapuni Links course on Friday, January 24.

“We’re closing in on the first 50 registrations, so be sure to snag one of the last few spots to get a free hat,” co-organiser Rees Witters said. “It’s awesome to see such a variety of people signing up - girls and boys, men and women, members and non-members, Gizzy locals, and even people from out of town. This event is truly for everyone.”

Witters said they would love to see more juniors and women registering.

“There are heaps of prizes, with equal prizes across all categories, so no one misses out.

“The putting comp is getting a big upgrade. Here’s a little secret - it’s an 18-hole putting championship spread across three greens, and you’ll have four attempts to nail it. All this fun for just $20, which also gets you into the long drive comp.

“It’s going to be a great day, so don’t miss out. Register now and bring your friends and family along too.”

Electrinet Park

The She Loves Golf programme comes to a grand finale end at Electrinet Park on Sunday, January 26.

A 9-hole competition is being held to see how far those involved in the 12-week programme have progressed, and organisers have put out an invite to other women club players in the district keen to show their support for the newbies.

The competition is open to golfers and non-golfers alike and will feature stableford and net sections, approaches, long drives and spot prizes.

Registration is at 12 noon and tee-off is from 12.45pm.

For more information or to book a spot, text your name to Holly Miller at 0210545534.
