Alex Karauria, who has over 30 years of martial arts experience, formed the club with the help of like-minded people to make martial arts affordable and accessible to people of all ages.
Martial arts taught in the club include taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo (traditional weaponry) and Topana Taurite (a combined martial art formulated and taught by Alex Karauria).
The club operates from Te Wharau school hall, and has secured funding from First Sovereign Trust and New Zealand Community Trust for equipment and coaching.
