The “challenge” games in Gisborne netball begin tonight at the YMCA with the first of the premier-grade deciders.

At 6pm in Pak'nSave Gisborne netball competition, Gisborne Girls' High School Senior A take on JT Contractors Horouta Taimana. At 7.30pm, JTC Horouta Gold play the YMP Masters.

Taimana and the Masters completed the round at the top of the premier reserve grade.

Horouta Gold and Girls' High were the fifth- and sixth-placed premier-grade teams after Round 1 grading.

It is always hard to predict these games between grades, but you can bet both games tonight will be competitive.

The teams have been playing 40-minute games and tonight they switch to hour-long games, which will test their fitness.

The other two premier/premier reserve challenge games will be played on Saturday at the Victoria Domain courts.

All other senior-grade “challenge” games will be played at the courts on Saturday as well.
