The Poverty Bay under-13 boys’ hockey team won their mini-tournament at Park Island in Hawke’s Bay on Sunday.

They dominated Wairarapa-Bush in their first game and defeated them 10-0.

It was a tighter contest against Hawke’s Bay but the Gisborne team won that game too, 4-1.

Coach Bonny Seymour was pleased with the performances as preparation for the Curtis Cup tournament in October.

“The game against Hawke’s Bay was a much better match, and we took our chances,” he said.

“Special thanks should go to our supporters who came with us, and to Bob Dyer, who refereed both games.”
