Gisborne swimmers were in the medals on Day 1 of the New Zealand Short Course Swimming Champs at the Hawke’s Bay Regional Aquatic Centre.
Enterprise Cars Swim Team members Helena Huettemeyer, 15, and Taylor Newman, 13, both made the podium.
Huettemeyer won gold in the 200 metres breaststroke, and Newman won bronze
in the 100m backstroke.
They had the opportunity to add to their medal count as both were in finals last night after The Gisborne Herald went to print.
