POVERTY Bay openside flanker Callum McDonald has been rewarded for consistent performances in the Heartland Championship rugby season by being put on standby as injury cover for the New Zealand Heartland 15.

Although the Bay finished second-last in the standings, the OBM No.7 was a standout performer on attack and in defence.

The 25-man squad go into camp in Taupo on Tuesday to prepare for games against Vanua, from Fiji, on November 1 and New Zealand Marist on November 4. Both games will be in Taupo.
