GISBORNE'S Tessa McDonald, at No.1 in the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay team, racked up her third consecutive win as the side shared the honours 2½-all with hosts Aorangi.

McDonald defeated Aorangi's Angela Gerken 4 and 3 as HBPB fell just short of their second team win.

No.5 Kayla Van De Ven had a 5 and 4 win while No.3 Kathy Olsen squared her match.

No.2 Janie Field lost 5 and 4 and No.4 Martha Manaena was pipped on the last. The half team point put HBPB in seventh place out of 11 provinces heading into today's last two rounds of round-robin play.

HBPB had 1½ team points and 8½ individual wins. Canterbury led on 4 team points and 14 individual wins from Bay of Plenty (4 and 13), Waikato (3 and 14) and Northland (3 and 11½).
