ANOTHER successful national women's interprovincial for Gisborne's Tessa McDonald ended on a winning high in Timaru on Saturday.
Playing at No.1 in the Hawke's Bay-Poverty Bay team, McDonald powered to a 7 and 6 victory over the Aorangi No.1 in the playoff for ninth and 10th placings at the week-longtournament.
The team result ended in 2½-all, meaning Aorangi placed ninth on countback of matches won.
McDonald was impressive throughout the week to end with a record of five wins and two losses — both defeats on the 18th.
It emulated her record at No.1 at last year's national interprovincial.
Wellington won the final on Saturday. beating Canterbury 3½-1½. They defeated Manawatu-Wanganui 3-2 in the morning semis while Canterbury pipped Bay of Plenty on the first extra hole after ending normal play locked 2½-apiece.
