BADMINTON

Eastland masters badminton team start their 2018 campaign in Rotorua this weekend.

Victoria West (nee Lee) returns to the representative ranks after last playing for Eastland 25 years ago.

Her sister Adrianne McLeod joins her. Both were members of successful Lytton High School teams at national competitions.

Alica Richardson-Marr and Hayley Ledger were unavailable for selection this year and Gary Teague, a loan player from Manawatu, is playing for Manawatu this year.

Taranaki do not have a masters team in 2018 so Chris Popata and Tony Rutherford will play for Eastland as loan players.

Eastland finished third in the North Island inter-association masters’ Division 3 competition last year. This weekend they play Wellington (2) and Waikato (2).

Wellington (2) were relegated from masters’ Division 2 last year and Waikato (2) finished fourth in Division 3.
