BOWLS

Tolaga Bay Bowling Club’s Vern Marshall and Wairoa Bowling Club’s Glenda Kapene will represent Gisborne East Coast at the Bowls NZ National Champion of Champions Singles Finals at Naenae’s indoor green this weekend.

Both players will have four games of 21 shots against other winners of centre champion of champions singles titles.

Tomorrow morning, Marshall faces a tough opponent in Taranaki’s Dean Elgar, who skipped the winning national fours team this year and also has national singles titles to his name.

Marshall will then face David Clark, of Counties Manukau, and, in his third game, Neil Barron, of Hawke’s Bay.

Glenda Kapene has one game tomorrow afternoon against Taranaki’s Rhonda Adams.

On Saturday afternoon, Kapene plays the Kapiti Coast’s Audrey Stevenson, who has over 50 centre titles to her name.
