THE Tauawhi No Violence Longboard Classic has been rescheduled to Saturday, December 2, after poor weather over the weekend.

The charitable longboard competition was scheduled to run on Saturday at Makorori, but due to a large swell and strong onshore wind, organisers have opted for a different weekend.

Centre organiser Tim Marshall said they considered moving the event to Uawa/Tolaga Bay on Sunday but decided postponing was the best option.

The competition is now scheduled run at 7.30am on Saturday, December 2, at Makorori Beach.

It is open to all ages and costs $40 for open and older surfers, and $20 for those under 16. The speedos/bikini event is free.

All profits go to Tauawhi Charitable Trust to help support the work of Tauawhi Men’s Centre and raise awareness about and prevent family violence.

The major spot prize is a longboard, and other spot prizes will be awarded for best Hawaiian shirt and wildest hat.

Register at Tauawhi Men’s Centre, 71 Peel Street until December 1. Registrations can also be made on the day.
