GISBORNE district riders and their horses brought home some impressive placings from the Central Hawke’s Bay A&P Show at Waipukurau last weekend.

Lidy Loffler, on Parafino, was fourth and fifth in the 70-centimetre and 80cm low show hunters, and first in the 90cm showjumping. With Graceful, she came fifth in two 1.05-metre showjumping classes.

Sinead Dolman and Kiwi Lansing won a 1.25m event and the Dunstan Feeds and EquiFibre Junior Rider class.

Fraser Tombleson and Mea 1 achieved second placings in the 1.25m and grand prix.

Kimberly McMillan, on Tahi Aroha, took part in the non-graded dressage, in which she achieved a first placing and a fourth.

She was third in the novice rider 12 to 16 years. In the saddle hunters for ponies 138cm to 148cm, she and Tahi Aroha placed first in the novice paced and mannered, fourth in the open paced and mannered saddle hunters and second in open saddle hunter.

Tahi Aroha also won the novice saddle hunter for horses with 0 to 2 wins and 0 to 5 wins. Horse and rider combined to win the award for champion novice saddle hunter.

Harriet Savage came fourth with Bold as Brass in the saddle hunters.

Shelagh Nolan came fifth in the Caledonian Showjumping Amateur Series.

Milly Dever (Wairoa), on 18-year-old Bridie, owned by Gisborne’s Allan and Sue Hope, claimed her third champion award of the season, winning the champion pony jump.

“Pinky” has been with the Dever family since she was seven, and was originally ridden by Milly’s elder brother Jack.

Sam Brooks came fourth in the introductory Category A pony and fifth in the Category A Horse-of-the-Year-qualifying show hunter.

Lisa Walker and Miss Serendipity had success in the working hunters. They were third in the novice and open, and second in the wire jump.

Caroline Richardson and Kiwi Corona came second-equal in the Mitavite Six-year-old Showjumping Series, and fourth in the 1.10m open show hunter high points.
