Little gains will be key, say Gisborne jetsprinters

GISBORNE driver Blake Briant and navigator Kate Hoogerbrug will try to get small improvements out of their superboat in the second round of the New Zealand Jetsprint Championship.

The couple finished third in their Harvest Transport boat in Whanganui at the end of last year and Round 2 is at Meremere tomorrow.

Briant said a few things went their way in Whanganui and continuing to avoid mistakes and making little gains would be key.

The leading crews set a hot pace and there was not much between them, he said.

“We’ve got to try to be as consistent as we can.”

They were refining the jet unit to get more performance.

The Meremere course often had fast, open sections, as well as tight sequences, he said.

“We’ve got as good a shot as anybody.”
