THE league-and-knockout-cup double was achieved by Gisborne Fisheries Athletic in the College Grade of Superleague football at Watson Park.
First, they put the league title beyond doubt with a 6-1 victory over Printing House Rovers on Saturday morning.
Later, a sensational goal by Athletic’s Noah Thomas was the highlightof their 3-0 knockout cup semifinal win against a tenacious JRP Transport Wanderers side.
In the final, against a sharp Dynamic Rehab Rovers team, Athletic led 1-0 at halftime but Rovers equalised early in the second half with a classy shot from Brad “the boot” Hill.
