POVERTY Bay-East Coast suffered their third consecutive defeat at the Freyberg Masters interprovincial golf tournament in New Plymouth this morning.
PBEC went down 4-1 to Bay of Plenty at the over-40s matchplay event on the Ngamotu course. Their only success was a 1-up win to Anaru Reedy over Blair Murdock.
It was the second win for Reedy, who was promoted from No.3 to No.2 for this morning's round.
No.1 John Wyllie lost 5 and 4 to Darryn Lowans, No.3 Simon Jeune 8 and 7 to Steve Heberley, No.4 Bruce Yates 4 and 3 to Bryan Pirani and No.5 Dougal Watts 2 and 1 to Jason Madden.
PBEC were beaten 4½-½ by Wellington and 3-2 by Northland the previous day. They faced Aorangi in this afternoon's round.
The Freyberg Masters features five-man teams representing all 15 of the country's golf provinces.
