Parkes, who wore red in 2013, and Barbarich, who was on the Bay bench, are in the home side’s camp this time, while Torrance-Reid will once again represent the visitors.
Coast co-coach Troy Para says his players are still hurting after last week’s 100-7 loss to South Canterbury.
“We know we let our people down and the boys are determined to make amends tomorrow, but we need to channel our emotions, which I’m sure we will.
“One of the positives from this season has been our discipline. In the past we’ve often had to play with players in the sinbin.
“But the boys can be proud of their discipline this season.. Obviously it would be great to get the monkey off our backs and win, but we’re expecting a heavy field, which will suit the Bay.
“We watched them on video and it’s going to take a massive effort from our tight five.
“Poverty Bay have a solid scrum and competent lineout. They also like to play with width and have backs with pace.”
Para and co-coach Wayne Ensor will have Perrin Manuel (prop), Hone Haerewa (lock), Rikki Kernohan (lock) and Morrison Siliko back after missing last weekend’s loss. All are first-choice regulars and will strengthen the side, but Para is right when he says his tight five face a massive job.
Loose forwards Jack Richardson (openside flanker) Hoani Te Moana (blindside) and Te Teira Maxwell (No.8)also have a battle on their hands combating opposites Callum McDonald, Jesse Kapene and Ken Houkamau.
Bay coach Mana Otai said every local derby, no matter where teams were on the table, were important and emotional occasions.
“We have spoken a lot this week about not letting the occasion get to the players,” Otai said.
“There will always a be a lot of passion, as we saw in the Queen’s Birthday match, and tomorrow will be no different.
“It’s good to play with passion, pride in the jersey and enjoy the occasion . . . but you need to control the emotions.
With five games to go to the Meads (top-four) and Lochore (fifth-to-eighth) cup playoffs, the Bay are in 10th spot but are only five points behind fourth-placed Wairarapa Bush, who the Bay beat in their Heartland opener.
Otai’s men also go into the game having banked two bonus points from a 31-30 loss to West Coast in Greymouth last week.
Apart from Tom Isefo coming in for fellow Hawke’s Bay loan player Willie McGoon) on the wing, Otai has named the same starting line-up as last week.
“We took a lot of confidence from that game attack-wise,” he said. “Now it’s important we build on that by shoring up the defence.”
Also up for grabs tomorrow is the PJ Sayer Cup, which goes on the line each time the teams meet on the Coast.
