Showjumping season is over but Gisborne rider Iyve Speirs and her ponies Ace and WE Benson finished on a high note.

They headed to Taupo for their last two shows of the season. The first was the Let’s Jump Easter Classic, where Iyve had placings on both of her ponies.

Ace placed fourth in the pony 1.10m/1.15m on the first day of competition. On the second day, Iyve and Ace won the pony 1.10m class. On the final day, they placed fourth in the 1.10m championship.

Their consistent placings over the three days of competition won Iyve and Ace the 1.10m pony championship.

Iyve and her other pony, WE Benson, competed on the last day of the competition and placed second in the pony 1.10m.

Iyve’s final show of the season was the series finals, where she and her ponies placed in all but one of their classes.

With Ace, Iyve was second in the pony 1.10m-1.15m mini prix championship. They were up against nine combinations in a nail-biting jump-off.

On WE Benson, Iyve did three great rounds, placing in all of them. They were second in the pony 1m and the pony 1m championship, and third in the pony 1.10m-1.15m mini-prix championship.

Molly McEwan and her grey pony Wembleybrook Giovanni were placed fourth in the pony 1.10m at the series finals show.

While that is the end of showjumping for the season, siblings Oliver and Isobel Jayne Bevitt have been giving eventing a go with some success.

At the Northern Hawke’s Bay Autumn Horse Trials, Oliver and Astek Quickstep were fifth in the CCN80 and Isobel and Mangatu Solar Eclipse were sixth in the CCN95.
