Most senior netball teams have started training.
“Now, under Level 1, they won’t be required to submit contact logs to us for each training session, which will make their preparations easier,” Hall said.
Tanya Owen, coach of defending premiers Taste One High School Old Girls, said her girls were all excited to be about to play again.
“Everyone’s pumped about it,” she said.
“During Level 4 it was hard to stay connected. But in Level 2 we started training and so we have been together for about a fortnight now.
“Everyone’s looking great.
“They cannot wait for play to start.”
YMP Sunshine Brewing coach Ingrid Brown echoed those comments.
“The girls are ready to go again for the season,” she said.
“It will be good for our squad — and everyone who loves netball — to get out on the courts again.
“The girls have only just started training, so it’s hard to gauge fitness levels at this point. But I think the majority self-managed their fitness during the enforced break. What we need is court time to bring it all together, and the girls are excited that’s about to happen.”
Hall said the switch to Level 1 had enabled the centre to adjust its senior competition programme.
“Because we’ve gone to Level 1 before we’ve started our season, we will adjust the senior competition to allow for semifinals and finals on September 19 and 26.”
Netball commentator Sherrill Beale said everyone was excited to get back playing and get the competition under way.
“We have come out of the Covid crisis and everyone’s all keen to get back together as a netball family.
“The younger ones will be excited, too, though they have to wait a little bit longer to get out on the courts.”
Secondary and intermediate netball begins on the first Saturday (July 25) after the start of Term 3.
“Level 1 has reduced any stress around running a competition, because it can operate without restrictions,” Beale said.
“We’ve reached the light at the end of the tunnel and we’re about to go out in the sunshine again.”
