STALLIONS 10 Humming Birds 11 — This game in the Brezz N Darts Competition was played on Monday night, and what a night it was.

Humming Birds struck first in the singles, Lynmarie Edwards defeating Whata Brown 2-0 and Ange Leach defeating Matt Morrell 2-0.

Stallions struck back, Mata Lemon defeating Mikaila Irwin 2-0, Kanye Arahanga defeating Nikila Irwin 2-0 and Wi Brown defeating Amanda Manuel 2-1. Humming Birds’ Kelly Munro recorded a 2-0 win against an unregistered player.

That left the score locked at 3-3 going into the pairs. In this section, Stallions had a 5-4 advantage.

The reverse singles went to and fro. Stallions attacked first, Brown defeating Manuel 2-0.

Humming Birds’ Nikila Irwin defeated Morrell 2-0, Mikaila Irwin recorded a 2-0 win for an unregistered player, and Munro defeated Lemon 2-0.

Stallions struck back, Arahanga defeating Leach 2-1, but Humming Birds’ Edwards defeated Wi Brown 2-0. That gave Humming Birds a 4-2 advantage in reverse singles for an 11-10 victory.

Tigers 18 Hawks 3 — Hawks struck first in the singles, Thao Duncan defeating Leroy Eyles 2-0.

Tigers came back, Shiloh Henry defeating Thomasina Brown 2-0,Tipi Eyles defeating Aaliyah Thompson-Collins 2-1, Teretu Te Moananui defeating Nyoka Fox 2-1, Haimona Ratapu defeating Selwyn Ruru 2-0, and Toby Ratapu defeating Matiu Hawea 2-1. Tigers were 5-1 up going into the pairs.

Tigers won eight of the nine pairs games, Duncan and Brown claiming the only Hawks victory, against Tipi Eyles and Te Moananui.

In the reverse singles, Tigers threw hard but Hawks youngster Thompson-Collins prevented a whitewash by defeating Te Moananui 2-0.

Highlights came from Toby Ratapu, with a 120 start and 11 high scores.

Pythons 2 Ford Falcons 19 — Falcons showed why they are on top of the leaderboard, but the Pythons didn’t give it to them on a plate.

Falcons took the first set of singles 6-0, Harley Ngarangione defeating Errol Tamihana 2-0, Hati Saddlier defeating Warren Coe 2-1, Jordon Ngarangione defeating Louise Laulau 2-0, Claude Saddlier defeating Kiri Hawea 2-1, Sam Kirikino defeating Antz Hulley 2-0, and Pete Tom defeating Junior Akurangi 2-0.

In the pairs, Falcons gave up one game —Hulley and Akurangi defeated Jordon Ngarangione and Claude Saddlier 2-1.

Highlights were Warren Coe’s 120 start, and Harley Ngarangione’s 13 high scores.

Scorpions 13 Pumas 8 — In the first set of singles, Scorpions took the initiative, John Lynch defeating Ike Te Ahorangi 2-0. Pumas hit back, Bobbi Eyles defeating Heiwari Phillips 2-1 and Cory Timothy defeating Bill Allen 2-0.

Scorpions won the last three games of this section, Dean Allan defeating Irene Taufa 2-1, Brian (Skippy) Royle defeating Sonia Tom 2-1, and Vic Mackey defeating Eric Moses 2-0.

Scorpions led 4-2 going into the pairs, and then enjoyed a 5-4 advantage over the Pumas in this section.

Up 9-6 heading into the reverse singles, Scorpions dominated this section, 4-2, to take the overall victory, 13-8.

The highlight was a 136 start by Bobbi Eyles.

Ruahine 10 Sharks 11 — Watching this game you wouldn’t know who to put your money on.

Sharks attacked first, Ken Lewis defeating Chris Te Moni 2-1. Mihi Awatere put Ruahine level by beating Dallas Joseph 2-1. Sonny Grant regained the lead for Sharks, beating Johnny Smith 2-0, and Pete Archibald made it 3-1 when he defeated Ripeka Te Kira 2-0.

Ruahine’s Potz Te Kira then defeated Curly Kerr 2-1 but Sharks anchor Nikki-Jean Stevenson took it out to 4-2 by defeating Sin Tupene 2-1.

Ruahine had a 5-4 advantage in the pairs, which left Sharks still ahead, 8-7, going into the reserve singles.

Sharks anchor Stevenson and teammate Kerr struck first, defeating Te Moni and Awatere respectively. That made it 10-7 to Sharks.

Ruahine fought back, John Smith defeating Archibald, Potz Te Kira defeating Joseph, and Sin Tupene defeating Lewis. That tied the score at 10-10, but Sonny Grant brought it home for Sharks, defeating Ripeka Te Kira 2-0.

The highlight was Curly Kerr’s 180.
