GISBORNE gymnasts made a foray into neighbouring territory with considerable success.

The Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay Junior Championships were held in Hastings and Napier last weekend and the Gisborne Gymnastics Club contingent returned with medals aplenty.

Results —

Step 2 girls, 8 years and under — Haley Rolls: 1st overall; 1st on vault, 2nd on uneven bars, beam and floor.

Step 2 girls, 9 years and over — Capria Tamatea: 2nd overall; 1st on uneven bars and floor, 3rd on vault, equal 8th on beam. Georgiana Elmer: 3rd on floor. Bethan Winchester: equal 4th on floor.

Team Gisborne 1 (Haley Rolls, Capria Tamatea, Georgiana Elmer and Bethan Winchester): won silver behind Hastings 1.

Step 3 girls — Lily Rolls: 6th overall; equal 4th on uneven bars, equal 6th on beam, 7th on floor. Greer Robertson: 8th overall; 6th on floor, 8th on beam. Miriam Cornfeld: 9th overall; equal 6th on uneven bars. Olivia Gardiner: 2nd on vault. Isabel Arthur: 3rd on uneven bars.

Team Gisborne 1 (Greer Robertson, Lily Rolls, Olivia Gardiner and Isabel Arthur): won silver behind Waitara.

Step 4 girls, 10 years and under — Sarah Hawkins: 2nd overall; 1st on vault and beam, 3rd on uneven bars, 4th on floor.

Step 4 girls, 11 years and over — Sophie Chambers: equal 4th on vault, equal 7th on uneven bars. Charlie Keepa: 8th on beam.

Gisborne 1: 3rd in the team event behind Waitara and Hastings.

Step 5 girls — Sarai Gudgeon: posted her first qualifying score.

Boys, Level 1 — Ryan Phillips: 2nd overall; 1st on rings and high bar, 2nd on floor, equal 3rd on parallel bars, 8th on pommel and vault. Corrin Blair: 4th overall; 2nd on rings, 3rd on floor, 4th on high bar and pommel horse, 5th on vault and parallel bars.

Boys, Level 3 — Callum Hawkins: 3rd overall; 1st on high bar, 2nd on floor and pommel horse, 3rd on rings, 4th on parallel bars, equal 5th on vault.

Boys, Level 4 — Lukas Ludwig: 3rd overall; 1st on vault, rings and parallel bars, 3rd on floor, pommel and high bar.
