GISBORNE gymnasts Jade Swann and Sarai Gudgeon reached qualification scores for the national gymnastics championships when they competed at the Auckland Manukau champs at the weekend.
The event drew 178 female gymnasts competing to achieve the scores that would qualify them for the national championships.
Gisborne Gymnastics Club’s Jade Swann,
in girls’ Step 6 competition, was fourth overall. She gave an outstanding display on floor to win this section, and was seventh on uneven bars.
In Step 5, the Gisborne club’s Sarai Gudgeon qualified with 51 points overall. Her best apparatus was beam, in which she placed 11th.
Lauren Chambers had to give this competition a miss due to a foot injury.
