“However, YMP have been consistent right through the season. The match is only theirs to lose, I feel.”
The match gets under way on the turf at 1.30pm.
Waituhi get the chance to take another stride towards a good spot in the bottom-four women’s playoffs when they play GMC Gold at 6.30pm tonight.
“Waituhi will look for a double over the GMC teams after they beat Kowhai last weekend,” Scragg said.
“I feel that newcomers Waituhi are the revelation of our competition this season. They’ve been great.”
Paikea and Amber Dental Gisborne Girls’ High School will get tomorrow’s afternoon programme off to a flying start at 12 midday.
“That match offers a lot,” Scragg said.
“In the first game of the season Girls’ High beat Paikea 5-2, but since then Paikea have come a long way.
“Girls’ High will be wary of how well Paikea have been playing.”
Ngatapa and GMC Kowhai meet at 3pm.
They drew the last time they met.
“Ngatapa will try to keep up their winning ways, and take their fifth win on the trot,” Scragg said.
“On the other hand, Kowhai will look to bounce back from their shock loss to Waituhi last weekend.
“Watch out Ngatapa.”
The men’s games begin at 4.30pm with a match-up between Lytton Old Boys NZ Fruits and YMP (2).
“The Fruits go into it on the back of a good win against the Masters last weekend,” Scragg said.
“They’ll have plenty of confidence.
“Last time it was 6-4 to YMP (2), but I think the score will be closer and lower this time.”
The weekend play ends at 6pm tomorrow night with LOB Masters in action against Gisborne Boys’ High School.
“Those two sides have battled for years and always produce good matches. I expect the same tomorrow night.
“The Masters are a bogey team for Boys’ High, but the students showed last weekend they can play some fantastic hockey.”
