Great day out for Whitemans

It was a great day out for the Whitemans when Eastland Kart Club held a fun meeting on Sunday.

On Sunday, Aaron Whiteman picked up a good win in the KT class, as did his daughters Tara, who also won races in the KTs, and Aimee, who won a couple of races in the rotax class.

David Tamanui also had a good day, picking up two wins and a second placing in the KTs.

Two groups of KTs were racing. Toby White had two wins, Conor White had a couple of second placings and Daniel Taylor had three thirds.

In the rotax class, Aimee Whiteman and Ben Briant had wins, with Ben getting a third placing as well.

Former ministock driver Shaun Trueman has not raced in 13 years but was back from Hamilton for the weekend and drove the club rotax to second place.

The all-in race at the end of the meeting had a big field and all three frontrunners — Ben Briant, David Tamanui and Spring Thomson — got into a tangle that put them out of the running.

Graeson Wells took the win, Tara Whiteman was second, Daniel Taylor was third and Shaun Trueman took fourth place from the back of the pack.

Robert Stubbs was out on the track in a rotax for the first time. It's good to see new drivers in the club.

The next meeting at the kart club track is on February 16. It will be a points meeting.

The track is in Aerodrome Road and spectators can watch free of charge.
