Sheridan outgunned Watene Reedy 9 and 8 for the junior title.

Skylah Pohatu and younger brother Reef won the overall titles at the King and Queen of the Country open tournament.

Reef had an eagle and five birdies in his 2-under par 68 which won him the “King” title for best men's gross.

Skylah's 89, while not a performance she will remember with fondness, was good enough to earn her “Queen” status for the women's best gross.

Jason Devery (74-6-68) won the men's up to 12 division net and Tom Hindmarsh (37 points) posted the best stableford.

In the men's 13+ division, Pete “Chopper” Summserby (85) won the gross, Jason Phillips (72) the net and Mana Pohatu (34) — the “King and Queen's” father — the stableford.

Jandy Beattie (36) won the women's net and Shelley Robertson (33) the stableford.

The men's pairs finalists have been found. Summersby and Brian Tietjen will play Shane Watson and Mana Pohatu in the handicap matchplay title decider scheduled for Monday, October 24.

TUESDAY — Women's stableford: S Gray 30, S Robertson 29, L Haisman 28.

Stefan Andreassen is the top qualifier for the men's section of the Country Foods Gisborne Primo Cup to be decided on Guy Fawkes Day.

Andreassen amassed 60 points to earn the No.1 spot from Kim Travers (56) and men's club captain Andy Hayward.

The top 28 men and top 12 women qualify for finals day.

The format for the final is front-nine net minus back-nine stableford. In case of a tie, the 18th hole is replayed and the lowest net score wins. If there is another tie, a chip-off decides it.

Andy Putnam remained top of the qualifying board for the Sean Shivnan Pharmacy men's shootout.

Putnam has a three-net total of 201, two ahead of Cliff poole with Jak Crown third on 205.

There was a clear cut-off at 208 for the 19 finalists this week. Defending champion Ian “Spud” Murphy sits a stroke outside it.

The final, a hole-by-hole net elimination until only one player is left, is on Sunday, November 13.

Twos: P Humphreys, C Dean.

COMING UP: WEDNESDAYS, twilight golf, rolling start off the first and 10th tees from 3pm to 6pm.

A sensational round from Anaru Reedy augurs well for the Freyberg Masters national interprovincial at Motueka at the end of the month.

Reedy had eight birdies in a 6-under 66 on Sunday which added two pieces of silverware to his collection — the President's cup and Secretary's Cup, gross and net titles.

Reedy had nines of 31, 35 including twos on the second and fifth holes, and birdies to start and finish his round.

The net effort was impressive considering Reedy plays off a +3-handicap so had to add three to his score.

His net 69 was two clear of runner-up Paul Wellard.

Reedy has bigger fish to fry as the captain of the Poverty Bay-East Coast team for the upcoming Freyberg Masters (over-40s) tournament.

THURSDAY (Oct 13) — Carters Building Supplies twilight stableford: R Walford from C Carpendale.

Non-golfers: D Bronlund.

Kahu Waitoa overcame a wet course and gnarly opponent on Sunday to book a place in the intermediate men's club championship final.

Waitoa defeated Daryl Goldsmith in their semi and will face Ian Logan for the title.

Goldsmith took consolation in winning the stableford with 33 points.

Iritana Ngarimu won the women's net with 98-23-75.

SUNDAY — Men's stableford: D Goldsmith 33, N Dewes 32, K Waitoa 31.

Women's net: I Ngarimu 98-25-73, P Summersby 100-26-74, H Miratana 96-21-75.

Margy Tuapawa is the 2022 shootout champion after a final that went down to a putt-off.

Tupawa beat Ella Wynard in a putt-off for the title after they emerged the last two standing in the field of 11, who were eliminated hole-by-hole.

Richard Reeves was third and the best of the male finalists.

SUNDAY — Shootout final, overall winner: Margy Tuapawa.

Gisborne was proudly represented at the Eagles Golfing Society of New Zealand Boys and Girls Under 17 Golf Championship at Northland's Mangawhai course last week.

Electrinet Park junior Marcus Gray improved with every round of the 54-hole tournament to finish second runner-up in the boys' stableford with 100 points.

Gray struggled in the first round, shooting 107 off a 20-handicap, but came back impressively to post 95, then 89.

Tolaga Bay's Will Yates carded 92, 90, 93 off a 13-handicap.

Due to the Gisborne Eagles district not having an eligible girl, Hawke's Bay junior Devon Henare was given the opportunity to play.

Henare — the daughter of Napier club professional and recent winner of the professional coach of the year at the National Golf Awards, Andrew Henare — more than justified her selection.

She won the girls' overall net with a 207 total, shooting 89, 94, 96 off a 24-handicap.

Gray, Yates and Henare also combined to finish second in the teams' stableford. Their total of 307 was just one point behind winners Manawatu/Wanganui.

Poverty Bay won both trophies in their annual exchange with Bay of Plenty here this week.

Held at Poverty Bay Golf Club, the exchange features 16-player teams split into two divisions.

They played 18 holes of matchplay in the morning and a nine-hole stableford in the afternoon.

Poverty Bay's Division 1 side won 9-7 — the first time they have won the Challenge Salver since 2014.

The PB Division 2 side overwhelmed their BoP counterparts 12½-3½ to clinch the Bay Bronze Cup.

BoP were one player short for the exchange so local Pen Wanklyn filled the gap.

Home-course player Jan Utting won the approach while Waihi's Vivienne Lilley was the only player to have a two.

The PB teams were represented by players from clubs as south as Mahia to as north as Te Puia Springs.

The BoP players enjoyed a round at Patutahi the following day before heading home.
