CD fired 78-10-68 to win the division 1 men's stableford with 40 points last Thursday.

Other than the odd fallen branch, Poverty Bay came through the storm relatively unscathed.

The course is in great condition and is proving more of a challenge than usual this time of year — the gnarly rough in particular testing those who venture off the beaten track.

That has been reflected in some modest scoring. Other than Dean's success, winning efforts in the pro's comps have been in the 30s — Dave Mettrick (39pts). Thursday, division 2 men); Glen Udall (37, div 1) and Stu Harbottle (38, div 2) on Saturday; and Brent Colbert (36, div 1) and Lee “Pikey” Hewson (38, div 2) on Sunday.

SUNDAY — Men's stableford, division 1: B Colbert 36, A Battistella 36, A White 36.

Division 2: L Hewson 38, L Pollitt 34, J Leaf 34, J Holmes 33.

Approach: A White.

SATURDAY — Men's stableford, division 1: G Udall 37, A Abrahams 36, C Simpson 35, P Butler 34.

Division 2: S Harbottle 38, J Rowe 38, M Downie 37, B Read 35, J McGregor 35, D Bush 35.

Twos: A Battistella, S Harbottle, G Morley, J Rowe, G Brown.

Ben Cameron and Butch McKenzie led the way in the Summer Cup men's net on Sunday.

Cameron won the senior division with 76-9-67 while McKenzie's 69 won the junior division.

SUNDAY — Summer Cup, men's net, senior division: B Cameron 67, J Priestley 68, P Hokianga 69, S Pohatu 69.

Junior division: G Maude 21, K Torrey 20, R Nichol 18, N Bunting 18, D Somerton 17 on c/b.

Dudley Reeves set a sizzling pace in the Summer Cup as he awaits his first official handicap.

Reeves posted 105-54-51 to open up a Grand Canyon-like gap between himself and second-placed Te Rata Ritchie (67).

Val Grace's more modest net 74 put her one shot ahead of Audrey Tamanui-Nunn.

SUNDAY — Summer Cup net, round 1, men: Dudley Reeves 51, T Ritchie 67, P Milner 70, S Reeves 70.
