GINGER Watts is not a Spice Girl but she produced some girlpower to leave the males choking on her exhaust fumes on Sunday.

Watts won the stableford with 38 points, two ahead of the chasing male pack led by Rongo Pomana (36).

EVAN Parkin so enjoyed the taste of winning the Tuesday veterans' stableford last week he went back for more on Saturday.

Parkin had 37 points on Tuesday and 38 points for his round of 84-14-70 on Saturday, including a two.

Matt Henwood is setting the pace in the Diggit Gizzy Thursday twilight shootout qualification.

The top 10 scorers at the end of the 20-round twilight series next year go on to contest the 9-hole elimination final.

The winner of that pockets $1000.

The qualification format is aggregate stableford from a player's top five scores before the Christmas holiday break and top five of the 10 rounds after Christmas.

Henwood already has a best-five total of 101, four of those 20 points or better.

The field is filling fast for the Christmas hams open tournament on Sunday, December 5.

Note that there will be requirements due to the region expected to be in the red level of the Covid-19 Protection Framework.

JENNY Ruru broke a century for the first time since November 2019 en route to winning the women's net on Sunday.

Ruru shot 98-30-68.

Dwayne Russell had four birdies in his 68-+1-69, which won him the senior men's division while Mike de Luze was consistency personified in his junior men's win. He mixed eight pars with 10 bogeys.

Men's net, senior division: D Russell 69, P Hokianga 69, L Anania 70.

HAZEL and Jack Miratana had a Sunday to remember at the Springs.

Hazel won the women's shootout final while Jack won the Musgrave Cup men's stableford.

Seven women contested the final. They warmed up on the 10th and 11th holes, then got into the elimination competition proper on the 12th.

Doreen Goldsmith was first to go, followed by Robyn Ngatai, Georgina Roberts, Hiria McClutchie, and Pauline Summersby.

That left Iritana Ngarimu and Hazel the last two standing.

Jack was a clearcut winner of the Musgrave Cup, thanks to a fine round of 89-27-62, for 40 points.

TOM Smith eased to a three-stroke win in the 9-hole net on Sunday.

Smith carded net 31, with Uma Chambers, Tama Brown and Kahu Tamanui all on 34.

MAXINE Francois last signed for a sub-90 card at Poverty Bay nearly five years ago.

Yesterday she ended that official drought in victorious style at the Property Brokers Christmas open tournament.

Francois won the 18-hole stableford with 89-20-69, for 41 points.

Te Puia Springs' Iritana Ngarimu was second on 39 while home-course players Marg Colebourne and Rosie Spence had 38.

Lesley Daniels won the 9-holers' stableford with 19 points.

Nearly 70 players competed.

Peri Gayford had her best round in two years in winning the women's stableford on Monday with 91-24-67, for 43 points.
