The Solomanns, members of Whitford Park in the Big A, are competing for Waikohu in the Oligoi Jug men’s interclub pennants series.
The pair racked up three wins from their four pennants matches at Tolaga Bay on Saturday.
Solomann junior took home bragging rights from Sunday’s round — shooting 76, including two twos, to his father’s 77.
Solomann senior, who originates from Gisborne, said it was probably the first time he had played at Waikohu since 1993-94.
He rated it “a tough little track” and said they had “a great day”.

Other stableford winners over the week were Mark Thomas (40 points), John Williams (39), Richard Foon (39), Allan White (39) and Ross Morley (39), who played down others’ 19th-hole claims he could be the best 16-handicapper in the country.

Te Puia Springs
Breaking his age has probably lost its novelty by now for the evergreen Nehe Dewes.
Hovering around the mid-80s mark in years, kaumatua Dewes shot in the low 80s to once again achieve the feat.
With his 82-18-64 — including a two — for 42 points went victory in the men’s stableford . . . six points clear of the chasers.

First-season member Abbie Davis had one of those days as she broke 100 for the first time at Patutahi on Sunday.
And she did it with ease — shooting 94-35-59, for 47 points, to not surprisingly win the women’s stableford.
The round, highlighted by a birdie-3 on the fifth hole, somewhat overshadowed John Neilson’s senior men’s stableford-winning 77-11-66, for 41 points.
Dave Quinn racked up a lucrative 24 points to win the junior section of the Friday meat pack 9-hole stableford.

Endeavour men’s interclub pennants
Electrinet Park (1) reeled in a good chunk of Tolaga Bay’s lead in Round 2 of the Endeavour men’s interclub pennants on Saturday.
Tolaga Bay went into the Waikohu-hosted round on the back of a perfect start to the series — six wins from six matches.
But they managed only three at Waikohu while Park (1) picked up five victories, worth four points apiece.
Mike Christophers, Wayne Carpendale, Shannon Toa, Ian Loffler and Heath Tupara had wins as Park added 20 points to their first-round haul of 14.
Their total of 34 put them just two behind leaders Tolaga Bay for whom brothers Will and Murray Yates, and Mark Watts had wins for 12 points.
Patutahi (2) were the second-best team of Round 2. Pat Molloy, Hamish Harris and Charlie Taylor had wins and George Brown a half as ’Tahi (2) added 14 points to their first-round eight.
Poverty Bay are sitting in third place on 28 points after wins to Colin Simpson, Kit Goldsmith and Peter Hakiwai.
Mahia had three wins, courtesy of the in-form Bruce Maher, David Waihaki and Rusty Smith.
Waikohu collected 12 points through wins to Karauria Ruru and Tama Brown and halves from Larry Green and Dudley Reeves.
Park (2) added 10 points to their total from wins to Danny Boyle and Mason Emery, and a half by Mike Bond.
Bottom-of-the-table Patutahi (1)’s struggles continued. After losing all six matches in Round 1, they could muster only one win in Round 2. Club president Tony Green’s victory saved them from a double bagel.
Overall standings: Tolaga Bay 36 (24pts from Round 1/12 from Round 2); Park (1) 34 (14/20); Poverty Bay 28 (16/12); Park (2) 26 (16/10); Patutahi (2) 22 (8/14); Mahia 22 (10/12); Waikohu 20 (8/12); Patutahi (1) 4 (0/4).
