Poverty BayTERESA Lewis and Alvie Hale were the standouts as 43 hams were dished out in the First Light Frozen/Taste One Xmas Tournament on Sunday.
Lewis won the women’s overall stableford with 46 points — her 95-31-64 highlighted by a birdie on the eighth hole but tempered by a non-scoring disaster on the 17th.
Tolaga Bay-Poverty Bay member Hale had 13 bogeys in her 89-25-64, also for 46 points — her first round under 90 at Poverty Bay.
Waikohu’s Marg Tuapawa was also among the big points, shooting 107-40-67, for 43.
Chris Warwick has to go back to August of last year to match his overall men’s stableford-winning performance of 85-21-64, for 44 points.
Les Gunther went under 100 at the Bay for the first time since May — 96-31-65 — to finish a point behind Warwick.
Peter Hakiwai (40 points) won the senior men’s division, Walter Mackey (42) the intermediate and Mahia’s Robert Wesche (43) the junior.

Gisborne ParkTHE course has raised the white flag as golfers continue to thrive in player-friendly summer conditions.
Pat Joseph returned one of her top efforts of the year — 90-24-66, for 43 points, to win the women’s stableford on Sunday.
Tracey Ford had to settle for second on countback but had plenty to celebrate in breaking 90 for the first time — 89-23-66 – including birdies on the first and seventh holes in a front-nine of 41.
Rebecca Walford showed touches of her low-handicap days in winning the women’s stableford with 87-20-67.
Anthony Pahina won the men’s stableford on countback with 81-15-66, for 42 points.
He denied Steve Phillips, whose 76-10-66 was his best round since returning to Gisborne from Invercargill.
Wayne McHugh put the painful memory of his junior club championship capitulation to bed in a Tuesday veteran marauding last week.
McHugh won with 84-19-65, for 43 points, relegating John Fricker to runner-up although the latter wouldn’t be complaining after breaking 80 (79-13-66) for only the fourth time since the turn of the century.

PatutahiWAYNE Baty and Andrea Haisman claimed the last piece of silverware for the Patutahi club year on Sunday.
The pair posted 83 points to win the Guy Farmer Trophy mixed pairs South African stableford, which preceded the club’s annual prizegiving.
Baty also won the senior men’s stableford with 77-13-64, for 42 points.
Gordon Humble was in sensational form in the Friday nine-hole stableford. The 22-handicapper shot 1-over 36 for a huge haul of 28 points to win the men’s 10+ division.

Nelson Truman won with 62 while James Forrester was second on 63 — scores that had an “if only” hovering over them.
Truman shot 91 off 29, overcoming a quintuple-bogey 9 on the eighth holewith a back nine of 43.
Forrester’s card of 83 off 20, including a front nine of 39, was stained by a quadruple-bogey 8 on the 10th.
