Anaru Reedy is a Game of Thrones fan. He's read the books and watched the epic TV series.

With similar mercilessness to Daenerys Targaryen and her dragon dealing it to King's Landing in the climactic GOT battle, Reedy roared to a first senior men's club championship at Park on Sunday.

Reedy beat Rod Moore 9 and 8 in the 36-hole matchplay final.

He has been helping Moore with his game and the pair played a bunch of holes together earlier in the week as a rehearsal. But when it came to game day, teacher and student became foes, and the man known as Ru prevailed to make it three consecutive trophies in his first season at the Park.

Moore was not complaining, describing Reedy's morning performance as “near flawless” as he stormed to a 9-up lead through 17 holes.

Moore won the 18th and the opening two holes of the afternoon session but it was merely an interruption and the pair eventually shook hands on the 28th.

The other two finals were closer affairs.

Anthony Pahina forged a comfortable advantage in his 36-hole intermediate final against Steve Phillips.

Wins to Phillips on the 32nd and 33rd made it a lot more interesting before Pahina sealed it on the 34th.
